These houses were built in the late 1800s and were built from locally sourced red sandstone and locally sourced traditional roofing slates. The terracotta crested ridge had become damaged and the terracotta finials to the two front dormas had almost disintegrated over time. Many repair patches were apparent in the lead work, valleys, water gates and cover flashings. Some guttering to the front had already been replaced. Other areas had leaking joints and were generally dilapidated. Flora and fauna were present in the chimney stacks as well as delamination on some of the stones . The chimney stacks were also in need of repointing. We erected the scaffold in May 2016. The project took four months to complete including the low levels, repointing of all chimney stacks and the re-building of one. The roof was related using a blue/ grey Welsh slate. Terracotta ridges were replaced as well as the finials. All cast iron guttering was replaced to the sides and the rear as well as the conservation windows to the rear. All cast iron guttering and woodworks were painted. |
